The rules

• Florida distinguishes state-certified contractors from registered contractors. Section 489.113 requires certification for contracting throughout Florida and generally requires a person engaging in covered contracting to be certified or registered in the proper category, subject to statutory exemptions and the limited subcontractor provisions. The Construction Industry Licensing Board administers the applicable contractor categories. Source
