Montana construction-contractor licensing under Title 37, chapter 45, subject to section 37-45-104 exemptions.
Thresholds and scope
A qualifying casual/minor/inconsequential undertaking below $2,500 is exempt; work cannot be divided to evade licensing.
The rules
- An individual or business may not engage in business as a construction contractor without the Department of Labor and Industry license. The application requires proof of workers’ compensation compliance and the specified identity/business information. Source
