Prevailing wage in Pennsylvania

Who and what this applies to

Covered public construction, reconstruction, demolition, alteration or repair under the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act; statutory maintenance is excluded.

Thresholds and scope

The Act’s general public-work definition requires estimated total project cost over $25,000 and at least some public-body funds; specific other statutory programs may have separate thresholds.

The rules

• Act §§4–5 require the determined prevailing minimum wage to be incorporated into covered contracts and paid to workmen on public work. Source
• Section 6 requires contractors and subcontractors to preserve worker, craft and actual hourly-wage records for two years after payment. Source
