Tennessee prompt payment

Who and what this applies to

TDOT road/bridge contracts incorporating the 2026 Standard Specifications; payments to subcontractors, material suppliers and haulers at all tiers.

Thresholds and scope

Payment clock runs from receipt of TDOT payment for the associated work.

The rules

• Section 109.02 requires the contractor to pay covered subcontractors, suppliers and haulers within 30 calendar days after corresponding TDOT payment; the same prompt-payment rules extend through subcontract tiers. Source
• The contractor documents monthly payments in AASHTOWare Project CRL; subcontractors and covered DBE/SBE material suppliers and haulers acknowledge posted payments within 14 calendar days. Source

Deadlines

Downstream payment 30 calendar days; covered posting acknowledgment 14 calendar days.
